Pastor Jeff Dahlin
LEAD PASTOR
Pastor Jeff has been the Lead Pastor at Praise Community Church from inception in June 2003. Prior to serving at PCC, Pastor Jeff served for eight years in a mainline denominational church. Jeff and his wife, Jani both have a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. Prior to entering the seminary, Jeff taught for four years in the Davenport Community School system. Jeff’s passions are preaching, teaching and hospitality. His vision for the church is to equip the congregation to recognize their spiritual gifts, nurture those gifts, empower them to disciple those in the church, and then to reach out and evangelize the un-churched. Jeff’s hobbies include cooking, reading, stained glass art and hunting. Jani is the Executive Director of Living Free Ministries of North Iowa. Living Free ministers to women who seeking freedom from addictions, providing a residential option and support to women in the community who are serious about making changes in their life with God’s help.
Neva Ver Helst
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY COORDINATOR
Neva VerHelst has joined the staff July of 2015. She took on the role of Children’s Ministry Coordinator. Neva is retired from a teaching career of 30 years where she taught at the Central Springs Community School District. She has a teaching certificate as a K-6th grade Elementary classroom teacher with endorsements in PreKindergarten- Kindergarten classroom teacher, and a K-8 grade Reading Teacher. She and her husband, Dan, have attended PCC since September of 2013. Neva has always had a desire to be involved with children’s ministry. She is excited to embrace this opportunity to work with the children of Praise Community Church. Her passion is to foster and encourage a lifelong faith in the Lord in the lives of the children of PCC.
Ashley Wegg
WORSHIP LEADER
Ashley Wegg joined the staff in August of 2023. She moved to Mason City with her three beautiful children, pictured below. She attended college in St. Bonifacius, MN at Crown College for the Worship Arts, graduating in May of 2011. She has a real heart for connecting people with God through music. She believes that worship provides us the opportunity to respond to the worthiness of God. You may find her watching her sons play baseball in the summer, going for hikes with her beagle, Chase, or going out for coffee with a friend. She is excited to be a part of the Praise Church family and feels very blessed to call this her new church home.
Valerie Hasbrouck
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Valerie Hasbrouck is the administrative assistant for Praise Community Church and has been working here since November of 2021. She is also employed as an administrative assistant by another church in town, so she is kept quite busy seeing to the running of each church. She has a daughter in the Navy, who is currently stationed in Japan.
